His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
God gave us Salvation.
And through His power, we have everything we need to live a godly life.
He’s given us the Word, the Holy Spirit, and the Church to guide us and teach us.
Through His power, we may participate in His divine nature that enables us to escape evil desires and the world’s corruption.
So our faith in Christ leads to our salvation.
Do we stop there?
We have a duty to share the gospel with others.
We want to continue to grow so we can be effective and productive.
Let’s take a look at 2 Peter 1:5-9…
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
Our faith that leads to salvation is the first step in our walk with Jesus Christ.
Our faith must go beyond our mind.
Our faith must become the driving force behind what we do.
Now…we don’t receive salvation by doing good things.
Christ has already paid the price for that.
However, our salvation leads to doing good things if we seek Christ.
We should strive for continual growth through God’s divine power.
Continual growth prevents us from becoming complacent and forgetting where we came from.
As we grow and adopt the qualities from this scripture, we will remain effective and production in building God’s Kingdom.
And you know what’s great?
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
God will supply His power with everything He calls us to do.
What has God called you to do?
Lord, thank you for salvation.
Thank you for your divine power that has given everything we need to live a godly life.
Let us continue to grow in our faith and remain effective and productive in building Your Kingdom.
And let us truly understand that we can do all things because You has given us the strength.
In Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
